Beth is a fan of the "found" image. She practices the art of Contemplative Photography, the art of SEEING: letting go of the activity that obscures natural insight and awareness. What resonates in the "seeing" will resonate in the photograph. A great deal is written about the technical aspects of photography, but little is written about how to work with mind, eye, and heart to produce works of art and how to expand vision and appreciate the world around us. Henri Cartier-Bresson said it best: "Technique is important only insofar as you must master it in order to communicate what you see... people think far too much about technique and not enough about seeing."
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." Mark Twain
